By connecting with children during their earliest community and school experiences, we can increase necessary skills and improve long term outcomes.
Many children experience barriers to learning, socializing, and communicating. But, not all barriers require intensive, intrusive supports. Families face long waits and high staff turnover when seeking services insurance will cover.
Working with an independent consultant gets a professional on site, on your schedule, addressing your teams needs. No waiting for evaluations or for staff to be obtained.
Staff generalize skills from one learner to new learners with similar needs. The cycle of waiting for support to come for each child diminishes.

Hi! I'm Katie.
With over ten years of experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, and behavioral needs I come into any space with a clear point of view:
As it currently stands, many more children with disabilities or unique could be successful in regular daycare, preschool, and primary school classrooms. Staff seek evidence based training and support. Services covered by a child's insurance are challenging to obtain and keep. Strategies for staff should be easy to understand, data driven, and feasible to run without a clinician present every day.
I believe I can help with that.
I started my professional life with a Bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Duquesne University which was quickly followed by a Master's degree in special education K-8 from Carlow University. While working with students with profound autism in a school setting, I completed applied behavior analysis coursework at Florida Institute of Technology and intensive supervised fieldwork to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
I have worked with children in school, home, community, and clinical settings including The Children's Institute of Pittsburgh. My work has shown me time and time again that simple changes to a child's experience in early childhood settings make a difference.

FAQs
What is the difference between a BCBA, LBS, and behavior specialist?
A BCBA is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. This is a specialized Master's level clinician who completed extensive supervised field work and passed a rigorous exam.
LBS/BSL is a Behavior Specialist License, issued by the PA State Medical Board. There is an education and professional experience requirement.
'Behavior specialist' and other similar titles, such as behavioral specialist or behavior support specialist, are not regulated. Professionals with these job titles have varied backgrounds and expertise.
Do you provide BHT or RBT services?
I am not providing behavioral health technician or Registered Behavior Technician services at this time. My focus is providing training and support to teachers and other child-facing professionals.
Do we have to have students with a particular diagnosis to receive consultation?
Absolutely not! Evidence-based teaching strategies utilizing principles of applied behavior analysis can benefit any learner or classroom. While diagnostic evaluations can reveal helpful information, it is not necessary for a child to have any particular diagnosis.
